2026-05-12: my new life
as i mentioned in my previous post, i live a very different life to the one i was living when i started this digital garden. how is it different? let me try to help you get a feel for it...
i don't have an alarm clock. i'm usually awake a bit earlier than i'd like to be (9 am or so) because the kids are up, but they'll often let me continue dozing until i'm ready to get up.
once i'm out of bed i can prepare breakfast for the young ones (if my partner hasn't already) and make coffee for two. there is no need to rush. there are no appointments or deadlines. we probably don't even have any plans for the day.
then i pretty much wing it from there.
most of my time will probably be spent on chores such as washing up (this takes a long time), cleaning and preparing meals. i'm not always thrilled about it, but these are generally pleasant activities. a lot of it takes place outdoors in the sun. i usually put on music and daydream while i'm working.
depending on where we are, it's likely i bump into someone (or they bump into me) and we chit chat for a while. sometimes i play the guitar, do something with the kids (though most of the time they're too busy having fun without me), drive to town with the fam or just sit around, doomscrolling on my phone.
i'm far more aware of natural cycles (e.g. the moon cycle) and the weather than before since i spend so much time outside and have to leave the caravan every time i go to the toilet (even in the middle of the night).
it's unspectacular, repetitive and lovely. it can be boring at times. i hope i find more of a... sense of purpose in due time. but until then, i'm really enjoying this new life of mine.
